We understand that travel is often expensive, and additional expenses need to be prioritised.

While you’ll be accessing a premium service, we’re committed to keeping our services financially accessible to a wider variety of travellers.

We are able to offer comprehensive travel advice to any destination and for all types of travel. A travel health consultation will cover all of your destination risks and risks associated with your travel that you may not have considered. We can offer:

  • A personalised, destination and itinerary specific risk assessment.
  • Vaccine advice specific to your travel risks.
  • We can offer all vaccines (including Yellow Fever).
  • Anti-malarial advice.
  • Advice on avoiding and treating traveller’s diarrhoea.
  • Travellers visiting friends or relatives abroad, or those travelling with children.
  • Pearls of wisdom and practical tips for travel that could save a lot of frustration and hassle!
  • Take away information – a lot can be discussed during a consultation so written information will be provided.

Our recommendation for all travellers, this is the gold standard that will consider your individual risk assessment, and all destination and activity specific risks.

We will educate and provide written advice and information for your travel. Even for seasoned travellers you should learn something from these consultations.

These will be a minimum of 30 minutes with our travel specialist.

If you bring back any unexpected and unwanted souvenirs from your travels, we’ll book you with one of our doctors.

Between their medical experience and Jason’s travel medicine we’ll have it figured out in no time.

Yellow fever is an acute viral haemorrhagic disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes. It is endemic to many  areas of Africa and the Americas. There are an estimated 200,000 cases of yellow fever worldwide each year.

Infection with the yellow fever virus causes varying degrees of disease, from mild symptoms to severe illness with bleeding and jaundice. About 15% of people infected with yellow fever progress to a severe form of the illness, and up to half of those will die, as there is no cure for yellow fever.

Vaccination is the most important and effective measure against yellow fever. The yellow fever vaccine provides effective immunity within 30 days for 99% of people vaccinated.

A single dose confers sustained immunity and life-long protection. Side-effects are rare and serious adverse events are rarely reported. The risk is higher for people over 60 years of age and anyone with severe immunodeficiency due to symptomatic HIV/AIDS or other causes, or who have a thymus disorder.

In New Zealand, the yellow fever vaccine is only available from specifically-authorised yellow fever vaccination centres. We are fully accredited as a Ministry of Heath authorised yellow fever vaccination centre.

For More information see the Ministry of Health Website.

We understand you’ll more often than not be travelling with someone else. We can accommodate family, couples, or group consultations.

In this consultation we will assess and discuss insect borne disease with a focus on malaria for your trip.

Please note we will only discuss and address anything related directly to malaria prevention and chemo-prophylaxis (anti-malarial drugs).

If you feel you really don’t need the works, then this will cover your vaccine preventable disease risk only. We’re realistic about the costs associated with travel, and will discuss and recommend vaccines based on your personal level of risk.

This will include a full break down on the level of risk and transmission of these diseases so you can make a comfortably informed decision.

Even if you think you know what you need/want, you will need to have the consultation as this is a legal requirement for us to administer vaccines.

Any follow up visits for further vaccines, once planned at initial consultation, are free of charge – you will pay for the vaccine/s only on these visits.
